Why Sydney Rises

Sydney is one of the world’s most beautiful cities, surrounded by pristine beaches and breathtaking national parks. However, the true measure of a city’s beauty is in its people and their willingness to share and come together for a bigger cause.

We are rising to bring awareness to the need for good education in all communities, and we hope that our small contribution can help to make a big difference!

Our Trainers

Chris Virgona

Chris has been a volunteer with the Art of Living Foundation for 15 years. He teaches transformative programs that energize the body and relax the mind. His journey into yoga has taken him all over the world and he has particularly enjoyed and valued his time studying in India.

By day he works as a software engineer in the solar energy industry, and he has long appreciated the balance that yoga and meditation bring to a busy technical career. He enjoys hiking, cycling and woodworking, and he loves experimenting in the kitchen.

Chris lives in Sydney, Australia with his wife Korin and two-year-old daughter Leah.

Meggan Brummer

Meggan is a stay-home-mom by day and an Art of Living teacher by night. Since graduating with a B.A. Honors degree from Rhodes University in South Africa, she has worked as a writer, yoga teacher, corporate wellness consultant and civil celebrant.

Meggan’s greatest passion is volunteering for the Art of Living Foundation, which she’s been doing since 2001. She teaches the Happiness Course, the Art of Living Yoga course, the Art Excel course for kids and the Know Your Child course for parents. Meggan has taught in Zimbabwe, India and Australia.

Padi Fazelzadeh

Padi is a yoga teacher and Happiness Program teacher for the Art of Living Foundation. She met the founder of the organization, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, in 2009 and was inspired to become part of his vision for the world which is to cultivate a stress-free, violence-free society.

Padi works as natural health practitioner, practices yoga every day and loves bliss balls at the moment!

WHY SYDNEY RISES

I will be rising for a cause not only to participate but to volunteer. Art of Living is a great organisation which does a lot of helpful things for the community and for people, and it’s for a very good cause: education for children living poverty. Not only that but I’m keen to challenge myself to see how many Salutes to the Sun I am capable of, not to mention seeing a whole bunch of people all coming together, doing a healthy thing such as yoga and all to help children in developing countries.
