Yogathon is for everyone.  Find your inner warrior and your power on your yoga mat.  Conquer your inner voice that says you can’t.

Pause for a cause.  Clear your mind, find your zen and share your positivity with everyone around you.

Give a child in need the gift of education.  Rise to the occasion, and earn some good karma!

Why Beirut Rises

Beirut is joining this year’s worldwide Yogathon to create an opportunity for people to come together, join hands and celebrate harmony while supporting children’s education. We want to create awareness about yoga and promote its practice for healthier living.

Our Trainers

Christian Matta

Christian Matta is a full time teacher, coordinator, and volunteer with the International Art of Living Foundation. He is a certified AOL Yoga teacher, coordinator of the Art of Living Bureau of Communication (ABC) in Lebanon, and a certified trainer of the Art of Living Pre-TTP (Pre-teacher training program – volunteer training).

Christian has been volunteering with the Foundation since 2002, and teaching yoga and specialized programs for the last 11 years. He has been active with the Foundation in Canada, teaching and empowering volunteers, and in the Middle East where he has worked with prison inmates, substance abuse victims and refugee children.

Christian is currently based in Beirut, where he teaches regular yoga classes, Happiness Programs and runs activities in the main Art of Living center in Furn el Chebbak. He believes in the Art of Living’s message of uniting the hearts and minds of people from diverse backgrounds, traditions and cultures as a global family sharing the basic human values of life and striving for a stress-free and violence-free society.

Lulia Turk

Lulia is an American Lebanese, raised in Boulder, Colorado, who moved to Beirut in 2002 to teach and spread awareness of yoga. She owns the Breathe the Yoga Studio in Sanayeh Beirut, and has been teaching groups and privately for 13 years.

Lulia was appointed President of the Yoga Federation of Lebanon in 2012 and works passionately to teach and bring the most professional yoga certification programs to Lebanon. She teaches Vinyasa Flow with a focus on alignment plus intelligent sequencing and is known for weaving a mindful philosophy into each class. Her sincerity and love for yoga continues to inspire new and advanced yogis all over.

Gabriela Faraldo

Gabriela is a full-time international volunteer with the International Art of Living Foundation and the International Association for Human Values (IAHV). She is a certified teacher of AOL Yoga and all other basic programs.

Gabriela has been volunteering with the Foundation since 2009 and teaching yoga and other programs for the last four years. She has been active with the Foundation in Argentina, Mexico, Bolivia, Chile and France, teaching and empowering volunteers, as well as in the Middle East where she is currently working with Palestinian refugees on behalf of the French chapter of the IAHV.

Gabriela is currently based in Beirut, where she teaches regular yoga classes, Happiness Programs, and other programs for refugees and social workers. She believes in the Art of Living’s statement that “a violence-free society, a disease-free body, a quiver-free breath, an inhibition-free intellect and a trauma-free memory are the birthright of every individual,” and she believes that yoga is the means to achieve it.

Dima Timani Gebara

Dima took her first yoga class in 2003 and over the following years felt it was a path she wanted to explore. She started her regular practice in 2013 and found herself immersing deeper. Dima’s journey led her to complete her 200-hour teacher training with Mira Siblini, at Shiva Lila Yoga Space, where she is currently teaching. Dima is passionate about learning and likes to explore all aspects and elements, especially the therapeutic and restorative elements to help achieve balance and well-being.

Layal Salhani

Layal’s yoga journey began in 2008. As she began to feel the transformation yoga was making in her life, she felt inspired to share the gift of yoga with others. She did her teacher training in 2013 with the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center in Rishikesh and completed advanced teacher training in 2015. Layal believes the mind, body, soul connection is a sacred one that should be nurtured and inspired. With that mentality, she teaches her classes from her heart, creating an uplifting, safe environment for students to begin to explore and expand within their own body and consciousness.

Sara Moubarak

Sarah was immediately hooked when she first discovered yoga and she has been teaching since 2009. She really came to appreciate (and witness in others) the rapid effect yoga has on the body and mind. In September 2009, after nine months of practicing yoga, she attended a teacher training school in Miami with Fred Bush. Her hope was to someday bring Power Yoga to her hometown. Her dream resurfaced. She started teaching yoga the day after she got back from training. After two years of teaching at the best gyms in Beirut, she finally opened Yoga Shala Yoga Studio in Beirut in 2011.

Youssef Majed

Youssef has been practicing yoga since 2001 and completed his teacher training at the International Art of Living Centre in Bangalore, India, in 2008. He leads yoga workshops for adults and kids. He has also taught the Prison SMART program for inmates in Roumieh prison. Youssif strongly believes in the Art of Living’s vision of a stress-free, violence-free society.
